Dancing with the Ghosts
Schauspielhaus live
The forceful protests against police violence in the USA after George Floyd’s death and the discussion around the infiltration of anti-mask demonstrations by far-right groups in Germany have shown that the pandemic has exacerbated racist and xenophobic violence, nationalist and supremacist thinking, and social inequality. Age-old traumas and collective injuries caused by racism, nationalism and inequality have not been overcome, neither in the USA nor in Europe. In many parts of the world our democratic sense of togetherness appears more and more fractured.
What is the role of art in this in the 21st century? And how can inclusion and participation lead to more diversity and a fairer, more tolerant future society? Dancing with the Ghosts is a conversation about dance, the role of art in society, and the desire for social transformation.
