Hans Haake studied economics and business administration with a focus on the environment at the University of Oldenburg. He worked as a researcher and group coordinator with the Study Commission on Growth, Well-Being and Quality of Live of the German Parliament and as a visiting researcher at the University of Maryland, College Park. For the last six years he has been a researcher at Schumpeter School of Business and Economics at the University of Wuppertal. He was also research analyst for Prof. Uwe Schneidewind in the Geman Advisory Council on Global Environmental Change. Currently, he is coordinator of the Center for Transformation Research and Sustainability. His research ist focused on new concepts and indicators of urban well-being. In connection with the research project “Well-Being Transformation Wuppertal” he developed a set of well-being indicators for Wuppertal and introduced them to various city development projects. In addition he lead the project “Happy Wuppertal”, where a “happiness app” was developed to survey over 2000 citizens regarding their subjective well-being and their views on their home town.
