under construction live stream “the ship is the ship is… the piece with the ship goes digital”
Launching the event series Pina Bausch Centre under construction on 21st November 2020 is a unique streaming format: on the occasion of the re-staging of Pina Bausch’s 1993 piece The Piece with the Ship, the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch, Pina Bausch Foundation, Salomon Bausch and Peter Pabst have developed a live-streamed version of the rarely performed piece under the enigmatic title “the ship is the ship is… the piece with the ship goes digital”. Entirely in keeping with the hybrid nature of the under construction programme, which seeks to combine three-dimensional and digital spaces in an innovative way, the live stream will incorporate strange and playful elements, using the architecture of the future Pina Bausch Centre and its urban surroundings to open up new aesthetic dimensions, including a performative meta-level. Not just the performance but also the projection of the performance on to the building’s façade will be live-streamed, free to view from all over the world here on under-construction-wuppertal.de
