Jorge Puerta was born in Bogotá in 1971. Dancer, choreographer, teacher and researcher in improvisation, composition and storytelling in dance. Jorge Puerta received a scholarship to study at the Centre National de Danse Contemporaine in Anger. He was subsequently invited to join the Folkwang Tanzstudio in Essen as a dancer and immediately afterwards became a soloist at the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch. He left the company in 2014 to pursue his own choreographic work and develop his teaching practice.
