Jan Kazda – Composer/bassist
Bassist and composer since the 1980s, working with Kazda, Das Pferd, Tom Mega, Coração, All Dax Band, 3[drei] Zoff, Billy Bangs Forbidden Planet, and others.
Concerts in Romania, Croatia, Austria, Italy, Holland, France, Czech Republic, UK, Poland, Cyprus, Switzerland and Turkey. In 1999, three-week tour through China with the band “KAZDA”. Collaborations with a variety of musicians and bands, including Randy Brecker, Ginger Baker, Peter Brötzmann, Peter Kowald, George Wadenius, Wolfgang Lackerschmidt, Therion, Kovenant, Tiamat, Marilyn Mazur, Jens Thomas, Hans Reichel, Pyogenesis, Billy Bang and Tom Cora. Produced around 50 CDs as a composer, producer, studio musician, arranger, band member or band leader.
Participation in several productions by the Wuppertaler Bühnen (including “The Seven Deadly Sins” by the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch) and the symphony orchestras in Wuppertal, Krefeld, Karlsruhe and Mönchengladbach/Krefeld.
Compositions for stage productions at theatres in Wuppertal, Krefeld and Bochum. Since 2006, Jan Kazda has also been composing for films, including three “Tatort” episodes (NDR, SWR), an action comedy for Pro7, a 90-minute documentary film on the Camino de Santiago, several WDR documentaries, and adverts for Attac, BDF and Indie Stars. He was nominated for the German Film Music Prize for the title song to “Black Wedding” (2016).
In 2018/19, he composed for and performed with the Wuppertal Kammerphilharmonie, and in 2020 he composed for and performed with the Mitteldeutsche Kammerphilharmonie.
