Chrystel Guillebaud is born in Paris on 26 July 1971. She studies ballet with Daniel Franck and Gilbert Meyer of the Ballet of the Opéra de Paris, Jazz with Raza Hammadi, and also trains in modern dance and tai chi. She attends singing and violin lessons and studies fine art at the Musée des Arts Déco de Paris. Chrystel Guillebeaud is a ballet master at the Städtische Bühnen Münster and teaches body training for actors at the Dusseldorf Schauspielhaus, where she has also works as a choreographer on several productions. She is a professor at Theater Total in Bochum and works with Heiner Bontrup’s Theater Anderwelten as an actress, dancer and choreographer. She also collaborats with the choreographer Jean Laurent Sasportes on several of his productions. From 1988 to 1994 she works with Philippe Découfflé, Maryse Delente and Maurice Bejart, and from 1995 to 2000 she is a member of Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch. Since 2000, Chrystel Guillebeaud has been working as a freelance artist. Together with Chun-Hsien Wu she founds the company DOUBLE and the art association Wup d.c. in Wuppertal. In 2006, she receives the Von der Heydt sponsorship award for her choreographic work. In 2009, she appears in Wim Wender’s film PINA. Since receiving her diploma in 2010, she is a practicing Ortho-Bionomy therapist. In 2018, she produces the solo Dein Femur singt (Your femur sings).
