Franck Edmond Yao
Franck Edmond Yao was born in Abidjan in Ivory Coast, where he later studied dance and acting at the Kingbok School. Starting in 2003, he won the African Award for best African dancer in Paris four times in four consecutive years. During this time, he also choreographed for Lino Versace and Boro Sanguy. In 2005 he began collaborating with the artist collective Gintersdorfer/Klaßen and performing on the stages of many important theatres, including Kampnagel Hamburg, FFT Dusseldorf and the Deutsches Theater Berlin. In 2008, he released an album of Coupé-décalé music under the alias Gadoukou la Star. As well as the productions he created during his residency with Gintersdorfer/Klaßen at the Theater Bremen, he has recently appeared in “Not Punk, Pololo”, the opera “Les robots ne connaissent pas le blues oder Die Entführung aus dem Serail“, “Nathan der Weise, ein Weichmacher für den Glaubenspanzer”, “Die selbsternannte Aristokratie” and “Nana ou est-ce que tu connais le bara?”.
