Born in Ried im Innkreis in Austria in 1983, Barbara Falter studied theatre, film, and comparative literature in Vienna and Aix-en-Provence. She went on to work as an assistant director and production manager at the Vienna Schauspielhaus, Theater Phönix Linz, Vienna Burgtheater, Salzburg Festival, Schauspielhaus Zurich, Ruhrtriennale, Het TheaterFestival Brussels and other institutions and festivals, collaborating with artists and companies including Meg Stuart/Damaged Goods, Nature Theater of Oklahoma, Christoph Marthaler, Herbert Fritsch and Sebastian Nübling. In addition to her role as a production manager, Barbara Falter also works as a freelance theatre director. She directed the world premiere of Ferdinand Schmalz’s der thermale widerstand at the Schauspielhaus Zurich, which was invited to the Mühlheimer Theatertage in 2017. Her other productions include Josef M. Krasanovsky’s Funnyhills. Das Dorf an der Grenze at Theater Phönix Linz, the world premiere of Katja Brunner’s Den Schlächtern ist kalt oder OHLALAHELVETIA at the Schauspielhaus Zurich, Sibylle Berg’s Nach uns das All oder Das innere Team kennt keine Pause at Theater Phönix Linz and Katja Brunner’s geister sind auch nur menschen at the KosmosTheater Vienna.

Barbara Falter lives and works in Brussels, Austria, Germany and Switzerland. Managing the under construction project is her first collaboration with the Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch.
